Moving Around with Sound - Mobility Solution for the Blind

Researchers from Carlos III University of Madrid have developed an assistive technology that uses sound to indicate a user’s position and distance to obstacles. Its key advantages are practicality and affordability compared to existing products in the market.

We envision a future where blind people will not have to use canes or guide dogs for daily mobility, and visually impaired athletes will no longer need sighted guides during sporting events such as the Paralympics.
